CoCo was assisting a friend with her shoot, and between wardrobe changes I asked if she’d like to shoot a few.  She did, and had in mind a pinup-style shot.  Unfortunately, my black paper wasn’t going to work (see her outfit), and I didn’t have white.  The gray looked white in the LCD – never trust the LCD – but obviously wasn’t lit well enough to really make it white (see the original shot on the left).

I’m no PS wiz, but I figured I could fix it pretty easily.  However, the edges were harder to deal with that I had figured, and I almost gave up.  I just couldn’t make the gray into white without screwing up other parts of the photo.  However, as I was masking/painting, I noticed that I was leaving a shadow around her legs, and I decided to run with it …

I’ve only been out to Sears Point a couple of times.  Once was for a vintage event in which a friend of a friend drove his Mustang (first pic).  The other time was to shoot another friend’s day at the  driving school.

Motor sports are hard to shoot, IMO, because you can’t just rely on a fast shutter to freeze the action.  Trouble is, if you freeze the wheels, they look … well … frozen.  So I tend to shoot vehicles from a front angle.  I’ve included panning shots here, though.

First two from the grandstand area.  Second two from turn two …
